SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Website, web application or mobile app: what does your business need?

A website explaining your services and an application managing work serve different purposes. Choosing by a technology label can lead to building more than you need. Start with the action you want to make easier.

A website for information and enquiries

A business website explains your offer, answers questions and makes contact easy. For a business in Estepona or Marbella, describe services and actual coverage without repeating location names in every sentence.

Forms and integrations do not automatically require a complex platform. Define the enquiry you want to receive, how it reaches your team and which pages need to appear in search.

A web application for doing work

If users need to sign in, access files, manage bookings or update records, a web application may fit. It runs in a browser and needs permissions, data and workflow design as well as an interface.

A CRM focuses on relationships and sales follow-up. It can be an existing product configured for your team or a custom build. Choose according to your process and integrations, not the label.

When to consider a mobile app

Consider a mobile app when frequent use on the move or device capabilities are central to the task. First check whether a responsive website meets those needs.

Apps introduce publishing, compatibility and maintenance requirements. Offline work also needs rules for synchronising changes and resolving conflicts; saving a screen on a phone is not enough.

What a custom software proposal should include

Separate a first release from later improvements. A useful first version can solve one task end to end, with essential roles and data. Specify what the budget includes and what depends on external providers.

  • The goal, users and tasks included in scope.
  • Verified integrations and ownership of accounts and code.
  • Acceptance tests, accessibility and priority devices.
  • Hosting, backups, support and maintenance.
  • Data exports and documentation for continued development.

An example to help you choose

An accommodation business explaining its services may start with a website. A shared space for assigning maintenance issues suggests a web application. If the task relies on specific mobile capabilities, assess an app. These are illustrative scenarios, not client references.

We work with businesses on the Costa del Sol and remotely elsewhere. Location does not change the main question: which task should the system improve, and how will you test it?

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Bring these answers to your first conversation.

  • Is the priority generating enquiries or managing work?
  • Who uses the system, and on which devices?
  • Which information and tools must it connect?
  • Who maintains it, and how will we recover the data?

Share the current workflow and a fictional example rather than confidential records. We can agree access and data handling before reviewing sensitive information.
